Meatal Stenosis

Meatal stenosis is a condition in which the meatus or "opening in the penis which urine travels through" becomes stenotic or "narrowed." This can occur at any age for a variety of reasons, but in children, we believe that inflammation from prior surgery or injury plays a role. Symptoms of meatal stenosis include spraying or deflection of urine stream or prolonged urination.  Treatment depends of the degree of stenosis and will be discussed at the child's first appointment.
