Phimosis is the medical condition when the foreskin around the penis is not able to be pulled back completely. Almost all newborns are born with physiologic, or normal, phimosis. As children grow, they reach a stage where this skin starts to separate and they are able to retract it back.  When this does not occur, they can develop pain or infections of the skin or urinary tract.  Your pediatric urology team will help guide you on when treatment is needed.
