Urolift for BPH

Benign prostatic hyperplasia affects over 500 million men worldwide. While men can select from a variety of treatment options—from medication to major surgery—there has been a gap in the treatment continuum for a less invasive option.

Prostatic Urethral Lift using the UroLift® System was designed to meet this need. The UroLift treatment is a revolutionary, minimally invasive approach to treating an enlarged prostate, or BPH, that lifts or holds the enlarged prostate tissue out of the way so it no longer blocks the urethra. There is no cutting, heating or removal of prostate tissue. With its unique design and mechanism of action, the UroLift System is a straightforward treatment that provides immediate, visible results. The procedure can be done in an outpatient or inpatient setting and under general or local anesthesia. Patients typically can return home the same day without a catheter, and experience rapid symptom relief and recovery with low complication rates. The UroLift System treatment revitalizes the quality of life for patients and improves the BPH therapy experience for physicians.

You may be a good candidate if you are a male, 45 years of age or older, and have symptoms relating to BPH. Speak with your urologist to see if the UroLift® System treatment is right for you. If you have a known allergy to nickel, titanium or stainless steel, talk to your doctor about your allergy before getting a UroLift System treatment.

Dr. John Kaspar in our Raleigh office and Dr. Frank Tortora in our Cary office have each achieved Center of Excellence training with the UroLift System and are available to treat you if you qualify.
