Dr. Shaban spent the next 15 years at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill on the faculty, acting as a clinical professor of surgery and urology and assistant chief of the urology division.

In 2004, Dr. Shaban entered private practice. In the 15 years since Dr. Shaban has built a reputation for practicing evidence-based medicine with integrity. He regularly works, locally and nationally, with reproductive endocrinologists, gynecologists, urologists, and primary care providers to assist couples with comprehensive, cutting-edge male factor infertility diagnoses and treatments.

In addition, there are several practice areas – including vasectomy reversals, microsurgical varicocele repair, reconstructive surgery for obstructive azoospermia, surgical sperm harvesting, and no-scalpel vasectomies – where Dr. Shaban has more experience than most urologists in North Carolina and the southeastern United States.

Dr. Shaban is a caring, compassionate doctor who acts as a patient advocate and demands quality care, respect, and dignity. Furthermore, he works with men and women to review all of their treatment options, not just the ones he and the team provide.

Dr. Shaban’s care hasn’t gone unnoticed, either. In recognition of his work, Dr. Shaban has been voted one of America’s Top Doctors© and one of The Best Doctors® in America. Dr. Shaban has also been named one of Business North Carolina’s Premier Practitioners and a Top 10 Doctor. He’s also earned the Vitals Compassionate Doctor Award.

Outside of working with patients, Dr. Shaban has served as President of the Durham-Orange County Medical Society and North Carolina Urological Association. He is also a proud charter member of The Society for the Study of Male Reproduction with the American Urological Association.

He welcomes any man, woman, or family seeking high-quality urologic care to the Associated Urologists of North Carolina.
